Alternative I and II Licensure

If you have been hired to teach on an Alternative I or II License, you now have the flexibility of taking some or all of the required education courses online through the Regents Online Degree Program.

Alternative I and II Licensure Program*

The Regents Online Degree Program and the six TBR universities have joined together to establish an online delivery option for new teachers who have been issued an Alternative I or II License in secondary education. This option will allow students flexibility in completing their educational coursework online through this campus collaborative. The courses may also be used for alternative licenses in areas other than secondary education as determined by your home institution

Program Requirements for Enrollment:

  1. Candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and will have met the content knowledge requirements.
  2. Candidates must obtain an "intent to hire" statement and recommendation for the Alternative Type I or II license from the employing school system
  3. Candidates will select the home university who is in partnership with the school district in which they are hired to teach.
  4. Candidates will meet the admissions and licensing requirement of their home university.
